From Monday 20 July 2020 medicare rebate or bulk billed telehealth, phone and video consultations are only available for patients who attended Ningi Doctors in the past 12 months.
If you have not been in this practice in the past 12 months you can not access a medicare rebate for a telehealth, phone or video consult, but you can pay privately. The costs for a standard consultation is $52, to be paid prior to the consultation. Reception can take credit card payment over the phone.
Patients under 12 months and homeless patients are exempt from this.
You will be able to access medicare rebates for telehealth again when you have had an appointment at the practice.
Everyone with symptoms of runny nose, sore throat, cough and/or fever should be tested for corona virus as per Queensland Health guidelines. Click on this link for information regarding testing and locations.If we continue to test everyone with symptoms, we can recognise new cases early and stop the spread of this highly contagious virus.
If you have any symptoms of runny nose, sore throat, cough and/or fever, please ring reception on 5497 6700 or book a telehealth appointment via HotDoc to discuss how to get tested and how to manage your symptoms. You should also stay home from work or school and avoid going out until your symptoms have fully resolved.
The QML collection centre at our practice has reopened as per 14/04/2020.

Advanced care planning is a routine part of a person’s health care and particularly so now with the COVID-19 pandemic. Should you become infected, knowing your preferences for future medical treatment will be an important element of your health care.
Your values and decisions about your health care should be discussed openly and documented so that your health care preferences can be respected at a time when you cannot voice your decisions.

As of 30/3/20 unless it is a medical emergency, consults will initially be by phone. Doctors, nurses and reception can arrange face to face consultations as required. Online bookings will be for phone consults only.

Phone consultations are available for patients that have attended this practice in the past 12 months and are in at least one of the following categories:
- people isolating themselves at home with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 (corona virus) or have to self quarantine for 14 days after contact with case of COVID-19 or returning from overseas
- people aged over 70
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged over 50
- people with chronic health conditions or who are immuno-compromised
- parents with new babies
- people who are pregnant
These consultations are bulk billed.
For people who do not fit these criteria phone consulations do not have a medicare rebate and cannot be bulk billed, so will be privately billed.

We do mostly do telehealth/phone consultations at the moment. Face to face consults are limited to absolute necessary ones.
