PUMICESTONE IS FACING A GP CRISIS
Time and time again people in Bribie, Beachmere, and Caboolture say how hard it is to get in to see a local GP. They say they can’t access basic healthcare when and where they need it.
Pumicestone suburbs have up to a third less GPs than inner city suburbs like Nundah, but the Federal Government treats us like we’re the same.
Nundah has 109.5 GPs per 10,000 people compared to just 74.6 GPs per 10,000 in Bribie and Beachmere and only 68.8 per 10,000 in Caboolture.
In 2019 the Federal Government removed Pumicestone as a priority area for GPs. Since then we have seen GP clinics close their books to new patients and wait times blow out to weeks.
People are waiting too long and travelling too far to see a GP, and it’s just not fair.
We’re calling on the Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt to reclassify Bribie, Beachmere, and Caboolture as a Distribution Priority Area so you can see a GP when and where you need it.
We are closing at 7 pm tonight (Wednesday 21 June) instead of 9 pm.
Our apologies for the inconvenience.
We will reopen Thursday 22 June at 7 am.
Please be advised that from 28/06/2021 everyone visiting Ningi Doctors will have to wear a mask, as per advise from Queensland Health. Everyone with any respiratory symptoms or fever should get a covid test.
We are continuing to provide the Astra Zeneca covid vaccine at Ningi Doctors, all our patients over 60 can book appointment for the vaccination. Please discuss with your GP if you have any questions about the vaccine.
We don’t know at this stage when we will be getting the Pfizer covid vaccine. Patients under 60 can register their interest and book appointment on Queensland government website: https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/protect-yourself-others/covid-19-vaccine/book
The AstraZeneca covid vaccine is now available for everyone over the age of 18 who wants the vaccine, please discuss with your GP if you have any questions or book an appointment.
Everyone over 50 is now eligible to get their covid vaccine. We will be getting increased supply soon. At the moment we’re doing vaccination clinics on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Please call reception on 07 54976700 to book your appointment.
If you don’t have a Medicare card you can’t receive your covid vaccine at Ningi Doctors. You will need to go to a government vaccination clinic. Please check the department of health covid vaccine website or call reception for more information.
From Monday 29/03/2021 5 pm Greater Brisbane, including Ningi and the whole Moreton Bay Region will enter a three day lockdown. Everyone is required to wear a mask if indoors, except if they are at home. So wear a mask when coming to the practice.
We ask everyone with any respiratory symptoms to get tested for covid and stay home until they receive a negative result.
Please check Queensland Health website for latest contact tracing advise.
Ningi Doctors will start administering covid vaccinations in the week from 22 March in special clinics. We will only have a limited supply and are therefore only able to take bookings for patients of our practice at the moment. Please talk to you regular GP/clinic about your eligibility for the vaccine.
